The Proof is in the Performance

Like any business, we have lots of competitors. Maybe some of them have called on you. If they haven’t yet, they will. And when they do, one of the first things they’ll talk about is price.

This is one of the great ironies of promotional products. To get your business (or lure you away from a competitor), distributors invariably focus on how much more cost-effective imprinted items are or how they can do more for less – in other words, they talk price. But once they have the business locked up, price takes a backseat to relationships, creativity and numerous other factors.

And that’s as it should be. As we’ve said before, staying on budget is only one element in the promotional mix. Here are some other key considerations to keep in mind:

  • Turnaround time. When do you need it? Is on-time delivery guaranteed? Does your current provider have a good track record in this area?
  • Quality. Do the products you use have a high perceived value? Will they last? Will logoed apparel stand up under repeated washing/wearing? Remember that your company’s image and reputation are a reflection of the imprinted items you distribute.
  • Creativity. Are the ideas your provider comes up with cutting through the clutter and achieving your marketing goals? Is packaging always discussed? How about targeting and delivery?
  • Availability. Will the items you choose be in stock if you need to re-order? How about color, size, etc.? This factor also ties in with turnaround time.
  • Imprint. Is your message visible? Does it fit the item? Will it last? This is critical to the longevity of your promotion.
  • Shipping/Delivery. Who chooses the method? Does your provider inspect the merchandise before you receive it? Is it trackable in case time becomes a factor?

These are the things that, taken together, create successful long-term relationships. As you can see, price is not the only factor in determining who you do business with. Call or e-mail us and let’s discuss every factor!

November's Warm and Fuzzy

We think there should be a “feel good” aspect to business. One of the ways we get that “warm and fuzzy” feeling is when we solve a customer’s problem. Here’s an example of a recent project that made our client happy and made us feel all toasty inside. (Welcome to the sappy side of Easy Green Shop!) Read more...

Managing Interruptions

Time gets lost. People kill time. Time flies. It gets wasted. Sometimes, we have no time left; we're out of time. Easy Green Shop looks at the time spent at the office and provides tips for managing time.

Because you spend a great deal of your time working, meeting your employer's expectations becomes increasingly important. Managing your time effectively, however, is often hampered by interruptions.

Think back to your last day at work. You arrive, sit down and slowly begin to get into a groove. You begin working on that report that's due at the end of the day. After about an hour, you quit to go to a meeting that was scheduled a few days ago. After the meeting you think, "What a waste of time. They could have just sent a memo for us to read and not interrupted my work day." Read more...

The Goose

Autumn is here and with the crisper weather and show-off trees, we often see flights of geese demonstrating some amazing instincts. (And great common sense to get out of Michigan until spring!). Here are five facts about geese and five leadership lessons that we can learn from them.
FACT 1:   As each goose flaps its wings it creates an "uplift" for the birds that follow. By flying in a "V" formation, the whole flock adds 71% greater flying range than if each bird flew alone.
LESSON:  People who share a common direction and sense of community can get where they are going quicker and easier because they are traveling on the thrust of one another.

FACT 2:  When a goose falls out of formation, it suddenly feels the drag and resistance of flying alone. It quickly moves back into formation to take advantage of the lifting power of the bird immediately in front of it.
LESSON:  If we have as much sense as a goose we stay in formation with those headed where we want to go. We are willing to accept their help and give our help to others.

FACT 3:  When the lead goose tires, it rotates back into formation and another goose flies to the point position.
LESSON:  It pays to take turns doing the hard tasks and sharing leadership. As with geese, people are interdependent on each other's skills, capabilities and unique arrangements of gifts, talents or resources.

FACT 4:  The geese flying in formation honk to encourage those up front to keep up their speed.
LESSON:  We need to make sure our honking is encouraging. In groups where there is encouragement, the production is much greater. The power of encouragement (to stand by one's heart or core values and encourage the heart and core of others) is the quality of honking we seek.

FACT 5:  When a goose gets sick, wounded or shot down, two geese drop out of formation and follow it to help and protect it. They stay with it until it dies or is able to fly again. Then, they launch out with another formation or catch up with the flock.
LESSON:  If we have as much sense as geese, we will stand by each other in difficult times as well as when we are strong.

Flash Memory

Friends and Partners,
The earthquake that struck Japan this past Friday has caused a price spike in NAND flash. Speculation and rumors of a supply shortage has already affected pricing in the short term. Easy Green Shop is high on the allocation list with the flash memory manufacturers, and we are confident in our ability to access the flash memory.
That said, flash prices are surging at the moment and we can only hold prices until 3pm CST today. Each day the price will be revisited until stable. If you have an order or an event we need to meet, I am happy to provide you with pricing. However, it may be best to wait until the situation settles down and pricing retreats.
We are continuing to receive updates from our overseas partners regarding the changing situation and I will provide updates throughout the day. The Global Saver Pricing sheet is being updated and I will send it out immediately once it is more stable. If you have current outstanding quotes, please notify me so I can update your pricing.
All pricing quoted from last week has already expired on 3/11 and is not retroactive so please make note.
Our goal is to provide you with a workable solution for our distributors and their customers.
Please call me if you have any immediate questions.
